ACB Scholarship
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Incoming freshmen, as well as current undergraduate, graduate, and vocational students who are legally blind, maintain a 3.3 GPA or higher, and are involved in their local community.
WHAT IT COVERS
Approximately 20 scholarships that range from $1,000 to $2,500 are awarded each year to cover educational expenses.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified students should submit an online application and mail a certification of blindness along with official transcripts, letters of recommendation, and certification of acceptance to post-secondary school.
AFB Scholarships
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Undergraduate and graduate students who are legally blind. Other criteria may vary depending on scholarship.
WHAT IT COVERS
The AFB Scholarship application can be used to apply for several different AFB scholarships. These scholarships vary in amount and can range from $500 to $3,500.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified students should submit a general AFB Scholarship application online and provide two letters of recommendation, official transcripts, and proof of legal blindness.
Arthur E. and Helen Copeland Scholarship
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Two scholarships are awarded to one male and one female who are legally blind, enrolled in a full-time program at an accredited four-year college or university, and are members of the United States Association of Blind Athletes (USABA).
WHAT IT COVERS
Awards are in the amount of $500 and can be used toward educational expenses.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Students must submit transcripts and a cover letter explaining their eligibility for the award to the USABA.
CCLVI Scholarships
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Full-time college student with low vision and exceptional academic records.
WHAT IT COVERS
Scholarships range from cash awards to video magnifiers that aid visually impaired students with their learning.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Students should submit an application along with supporting documentation, as well as a Certification of Low Vision to the CCLVI for consideration.
Christine H. Eide Memorial Scholarship
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Legally blind students who are currently enrolled in or entering a full-time undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university.
WHAT IT COVERS
The scholarship provides awards in the amount of $500 per semester to be used toward educational expenses. There is a $1,000 annual maximum per individual.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified students should fill out an application form and attach supporting documentation, which includes proof of university enrollment and proof of legal blindness.
CRS Scholarship
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Legally blind students who are planning to attend a full-time undergraduate program in order to enable themselves to become independent and self-supporting.
WHAT IT COVERS
Award amounts are proportional to the amount of funds available (usually $500 each per year). Awards can be used toward paying tuition.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified students should complete a scholarship application and character reference form and submit these forms along with proof of impaired vision.
Ferrell Scholarship
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Legally blind students who are attending a full-time college or university program in the field of services to aid the blind and visually impaired.
WHAT IT COVERS
Awards are distributed biennially in the amount of $750 to two selected applicants.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Qualified students should complete and submit a typed application along with letters of recommendation and proof of vision status.
Fred Sheigert Scholarship Program
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Enrolled college students who meet certain academic and low vision criteria.
WHAT IT COVERS
Scholarships in the amount of $3,000 are awarded to three selected students. Funds can be used toward the payment of educational expenses.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Students must complete an online application and submit along with supporting documentation, which includes a CCLVI Scholarship Eye Report form.
Guild Scholar Award
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Legally blind high school students who have completed their Junior year and plan to attend college following graduation.
WHAT IT COVERS
Scholarship amounts of up to $15,000 are awarded to selected applicants. Funds are to be used for college expenses.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should complete an online application, provide proof of vision status, letters of recommendation, two personal statements of 500 words or less, and other supporting documentation.
Lighthouse Scholarships
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Students who are legally blind and have an exceptional record of both academic and personal achievements. Students must live in the eastern United States (see official webpage for listing of applicable states) and can apply before or at any point during their course of study.
WHAT IT COVERS
Seven $10,000 scholarships are awarded to deserving students annually for use toward college tuition and related expenses.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should complete and submit an online application along with proof of vision status, academic record and enrollment documentation, and two letters of recommendation from individuals other than family members.
Mary P. Oenslager Scholastic Achievement
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Students who are legally blind, hold a GPA of 3.0 or higher, and are registered as a Learning Ally. A bachelor’s, master’s, or doctorate must be earned or in the process of being earned in to become eligible for the award.
WHAT IT COVERS
Nine scholarships with amounts that range from $1,000 to $6,000 are awarded to selected applicants annually.
Online programs are eligible.
HOW TO APPLY
Applicants should complete and submit an application form along with supporting documentation in order to be considered.
NFB Scholarships
WHO’S ELIGIBLE
Students who are legally blind and are enrolled in, or are planning to enroll in a full-time post-secondary degree program at an accredited U.S. institution of higher learning. One award is granted to a student who is enrolled in a degree program part-time and also employed full-time.
WHAT IT COVERS
30 national scholarships in amounts that range from $3,000 to $12,000 are awarded to deserving students annually. These funds are to be used toward tuition and other educational expenses.

Students should follow the application checklist provided by the NFB and submit a completed application along with supporting documentation.
